Jersey Squash Association Protocol
This document explains what criteria a player needs to meet in order to be eligible to represent Jersey in the Junior and Commonwealth games.
Jersey Squash will invite Junior and Senior players who wish to make themselves available for the selection for Jersey Junior and senior Team by 30/04/2019:
Players that love squash
Keen to represent Jersey in the Junior and Commonwealth Games in the fast paced game of squash
A willingness to work up to a High standard to compete with the rest of the world
Great squash skills and enthusiasm.
Be available and commit to the Acorn pathway
In considering such players the J.S.A will have regard to players that are members of the European Squash federation (E.S.F) or England Squash (E.S) and obtain a ranking in either England or Europe.
The player must produce documentary evidence of his or hers performance in tournaments and keep a diary of coaching/training.
Senior players should be competing in either the P.S.A World Series, British National championships, County Team League, University/college league and Open tournaments local and away.
Junior players should be competing in England and European tournaments, British Junior Open, British Junior Closed , England Junior Closed , Mandatory Gold events, Selection silver events and European Grand Prix events.
A player should be eligible to represent jersey in the championships only:
a. He/she is a holder of a British Passport
b. He/she is born in Jersey; or
c. He/she has a parent that was born in Jersey; or
d. He /she represented Jersey on the last occasion that he/she participated in the Games;
An Athlete may also be eligible to participate as a member of Team Jersey at the games if he/she:-
a. Has resided in Jersey for a continuous period of at least 5 Years and has qualified residential status in accordance to the island’s housing regulations; or
b. He/she falls outside these housing regulations but has otherwise resided in Jersey lawfully as a lodger or licensee for a continuous period of at least 5 years;
And in either case.
c. He/she has obtained dispensation in accordance with Article 24.5 of the Commonwealth Games Federation (C.G.F) Constitution.
